Volunteers Needed for an upcoming event at The Church Studio!

We’re looking for stationed docents, ushers, merch helpers, hospitality, and greeters.

120 Guests

Guests will enjoy docent-led mini tours, a cash bar, merch, and an intimate songwriter performance in the legendary Live Room.

Hosted with Soundup Club, a Tulsa-based community dedicated to supporting songwriters from song to studio to stage.

Join us or another great volunteer meeting! We will talk about all things Church Studio, department updates, Carney Fest recap, upcoming events, and introduce our new volunteers. We would love to have you! Come early if you want to buy a drink in The Lounge!

Hi everyone! 

We’re creating a small group of volunteers (we’re calling it our Kindness Collective) who will help us care for our community in meaningful ways, sending cards, flowers, and thoughtful notes to our members, donors, and friends who may be going through a hard time, facing health challenges, or experiencing loss.

This is a simple but powerful way to remind people that they’re seen, loved, and not alone and it truly reflects the heart of what The Church Studio is all about.

If you enjoy encouraging others, writing notes, or just being part of something that brings comfort and care, we would love to have you involved.

Overview:
The Front Desk Greeter is often the very first impression guests have of The Church Studio. This role is essential in creating a welcoming, professional, and engaging experience for all visitors. The greeter ensures guests feel comfortable, informed, and excited about their time in the studio while also supporting the overall flow of operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Warmly welcome every visitor upon arrival.

Offer a brief orientation of the space, including the lounge, gift shop, tour details, and restrooms.

Provide basic historical context of the building and gallery while visitors wait for a docent.

Collect email addresses for studio communications.

Share information about memberships and Leon Russell: The Illustrated Biography when appropriate.

Promote the “merchandise item of the week” and any special sales.

Take photos of guests in front of Leon’s portrait or other key locations when requested.

Notify team members when vendors, guests, or clients arrive for meetings.

Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting front desk area.

Assist with occasional errands, such as dropping packages at the post office.

Monitor visitor foot traffic and remain alert to overall security.

Follow and understand security procedures to ensure guest and staff safety.

Qualities & Skills:

Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic personality.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to multitask and stay attentive in a busy environment.

Dependable and punctual.

Interest in music history and The Church Studio’s mission is a plus.

Time Commitment:
Flexible shifts available. Saturdays and event days are the busiest and most in need of support.

As the first point of contact, you set the tone for each visitor’s experience. Your presence helps guests feel welcome, keeps operations running smoothly, and supports the mission of The Church Studio.

Overview
This entry-level role helps prepare membership packets for The Church Studio. The main responsibility is putting together materials for Entry Level and Standard membership packets in a neat and accurate way.

Responsibilities

Assemble Entry Level and Standard membership packets

Place the correct items in each packet, including:

Church Studio tour tickets

Harwelden Mansion tour tickets

Drink tickets

Membership pick

Jessica’s business card

Personal letter

Service brochures

Follow a checklist to make sure each packet is complete

Keep packets organized and ready for use

Let a supervisor know when supplies are running low

Qualifications

Entry-level position; no experience required

Good attention to detail

Able to follow simple instructions

Reliable and organized

The Church Studio

Join our Green Team and help keep the outdoor grounds of The Church Studio looking beautiful and welcoming! As a Green Team volunteer, you’ll play an important role in supporting our mission by creating a vibrant, well-maintained environment for all who visit.

Duties include:

Watering plants and flower beds every day in the Summer (Especially the black pots in courtyard) 

Laying mulch and maintaining garden beds

Picking up trash and keeping the property clean

Caring for outdoor plants and landscaping

Assisting with seasonal tasks and other miscellaneous outdoor duties as needed

No gardening experience is required—just a love for the outdoors and a willingness to help! Your time and effort directly support the studio’s mission to educate, inspire, and welcome guests with pride in our historic space.
